Which nail printer should you buy?
Every machine currently sold that prints designs on real fingernails, compared on parts, software, consumables, and what owners say. Written for a staffed salon or mall kiosk doing 10–25 customers a day, by the people who built the Read My Nails library around one.
Verdict. There is no machine on sale today with better parts than the O'2NAILS desktop line for this job. Every competitor either uses the same print cartridge, is a rebrand of O'2NAILS hardware, is discontinued, or isn't buyable yet.
What's actually better elsewhere. Two Chinese desktops — Jolimark NP-101D/311D and Sunwin NA03 — put a built-in curing lamp and a documented camera in the box. Neither has US support, a US warranty, or a track record.
Buy. O'2NAILS X11 Plus, rose gold, ~$899, with a spare SM10 and a $30 UV lamp. Ask the factory about the new X30 before you commit — it's the 2025 desktop the resellers haven't mentioned.
The market is three hardware families
Thirty brand names on Amazon and Alibaba resolve to three actual designs. Everything else is a storefront name on one of these.
O'2NAILS pattern
V11 / X11 / M1 portables and X11 Plus / X12 / X12.5 / X30 desktops. SM10 or FM10 cartridge, 2400 DPI, phone app or built-in Android tablet. Rebranded as Stylemate, Rtnails, Sunkin "X11P", and most Amazon pseudonyms.
Jolimark NP-101D / NP-311D
Real printer OEM with its own FCC grant. Android touchscreen, 5 MP camera, 1200 DPI, SM10 cartridge, built-in 400 nm LED cure. Sold via Theia ($1,999), eBay from Shenzhen (~$790 + $169 ship).
Sunwin NA03 / NA04
5-inch touchscreen, built-in UV lamp, "OCR" nail-edge camera, claimed 4800 DPI, 361 built-in designs, 2.5 kg. Probable source of the "5-inch / 3000+ designs / 4800 DPI" Amazon wave. Quote-only pricing; no US distributor.
Premium and robots
Nailbot 2.0 (US) — 125 units shipping through Q1 2027, consumer-grade. Koizumi PriNail and Funai CureNel (Japan) — discontinued, grey-import only. Casio — demo only. 10Beauty, Nimble, Clockwork — paint polish, don't print designs; Clockwork shut down Feb 2025.
O'2NAILS lineup
All models: 2400 DPI, camera-based nail recognition, 24 V adapter. Cartridge yield is the factory's 1,000-nail claim; the Italian distributor says 500, NailPrinter.ca says ~700. Budget on 500–700.

What owners say
The complaints are almost entirely about the phone app, which the desktop models don't use. That matters: the X11 Plus runs its own Android tablet.
"app will never let me connect to the wifi even though my phone will"Google Play review, O2NAILS app
"the ink fades and pools distorting the picture"Google Play review — typical of too-thin print gel or a contaminated nozzle
"9/10 times when I press ok to print… the app will just crash"App Store review, 2022
"Way better nail art than I can do on my own… super easy to use"App Store review
"prints well on the highest part of the nail, but distorts and loses focus where the nail curves away"SalonGeek forum — the one physics limit every inkjet nail printer shares
Competitor reviews: Amazon ratings for the pseudonym brands could not be read. The one mirrored review set (GEHPYYDS) says "No app in the Apple store… directions came in Chinese" and "will not turn on and is missing most of the accessories." No independent review of Jolimark or Sunwin exists in English. Reddit has no O'2NAILS threads at all — this is a salon-equipment category, not a consumer one.
Known failure modes, all brands
Wi-Fi pairing on phone-app models. Print gel applied too thin or too thick, causing pooling. Nozzle contamination when a wet nail touches the cartridge. Cartridge drying after a few idle days — keep the Jet Cleanser and a spare. Off-center prints needing calibration. Design-library access tied to an account login.
Is anything superior in parts?
Two things, and only on paper. Jolimark documents a 5 MP camera where O'2NAILS documents nothing, and both Jolimark and Sunwin build the curing lamp into the machine. That's a $30 lamp and an unverified camera spec against no US warranty, no consumables channel, and no owner base. For a kiosk that has to work every Saturday, that's not a trade.
Everything else that looks superior is a number on a listing: "4800 DPI," "12,000 DPI," "10 seconds." The same 5-inch chassis is listed at three different resolutions by three different sellers. Ignore it.
Recommendation for a salon or kiosk
- Buy one O'2NAILS X11 Plus, rose gold. Tate at $899 via Trade Assurance, or the factory (Ella) if her number is at or under. Add 2 spare SM10, gels, and a UV lamp: ~$1,250 delivered.
- Ask Ella about the X30 and X12.5 — price, lead time, what's different in the X30. If it's the same guts in a newer body, the X11 Plus is still the buy. If it has a new print engine or a better camera, wait 20 days.
- Run it 30 days before buying the second machine. Track misprints per set, cartridge nails actually delivered, and how the tablet UI holds up with a 12-year-old driving it.
- Second machine is a portable (M1, $599) for parties and quinceañeras, not another desktop.
- If you hate the O'2NAILS software after 30 days, the one machine worth testing next is a Jolimark NP-101D from Theia — same cartridge, built-in cure, real OEM.
